Richmond Public Schools Responds to Viral Video Alleging Staff Misconduct

Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras issued a public statement addressing a video circulating on social media that appears to show an employee harming a student.

“I am absolutely horrified by what I saw, both as superintendent and as a parent,” Kamras said. “We will not tolerate this behavior in our schools.”

According to the statement, the district has taken “every necessary step” in response to the incident, though specific personnel actions were not disclosed. Kamras also issued an apology to the student, their family, and the broader school community, calling the situation a “breach of trust.”

The district has not released additional details about the employee involved, the school location, or whether law enforcement or child protective services are investigating.

Richmond Public Schools emphasized its commitment to student safety and stated it is working to ensure such an incident does not happen again.
