🚲 Richmond Is Talking Bike Safety — But It Can’t Stop Here
The city is taking steps: a new 30-day warning period for vehicles blocking bike lanes, and fresh infrastructure upgrades along Forest Hill Avenue with more protected lanes, pedestrian islands, and improved crossings.

These moves matter. Enforcement + design is the right direction.
But let’s be real—this isn’t enough.
Bike lanes still get blocked every day. Protection is inconsistent across neighborhoods. And safety shouldn’t depend on which corridor you’re on or whether enforcement is active that week.
If Richmond is serious about Vision Zero, it has to go further:
• Consistent, citywide protected bike infrastructure
• Enforcement that lasts beyond warning periods
• Street design that prevents violations—not just responds to them
Safer streets aren’t built in phases—they’re built through commitment.
