Clement Town Road to close Oct. 19–20 for bridge work

A portion of Clement Town Road connecting Powhatan and Amelia counties will close during daytime hours Oct. 19 and 20 for bridge maintenance, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, the closure will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day on Route 681 between Old Buckingham Road in Powhatan County and Genito Road in Amelia County. Residents will retain access to their properties throughout the work.

Through traffic should follow the posted detours:

  • Northbound: Turn right onto Old Buckingham Road, right onto Giles Bridge Road and continue into Amelia County on Royalton Road. Turn right onto Genito Road to return to Clement Town Road.
  • Southbound: Turn left onto Genito Road, left onto Royalton Road and continue into Powhatan County on Giles Bridge Road. Turn left onto Old Buckingham Road to return to Clement Town Road.

Crews will apply a protective overlay to the bridge deck to help prevent damage from water, wear and weather, extending the bridge’s life and providing a smoother driving surface.

For questions or to report hazardous road conditions, contact VDOT’s 24-hour Customer Service Center at my.vdot.virginia.gov or call 800-367-7623.
