NWS Wakefield says heat index values could reach up to 105°F across parts of central, eastern, south-central and southeast Virginia, plus northeast North Carolina. Hot temperatures and humidity may increase the risk of heat illness, especially for outdoor workers, older adults, children and people without reliable air conditioning.

Richmond’s forecast Friday peaks near 100°F, with evening thunderstorms possible.
