Over the course of eight solo albums\, many side projects\, and more guest appearances than most could do in one lifetime\, his powerful songs have given voice to the voiceless and shed light into dark and hidden corners of the American dream. \nPierce’s newest record\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted\, captures moments in the lives of everyday people as they struggle with crisis and encapsulates everything that has been so powerful about his music to date. \nAt its core\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted is a diary of — and love letter to — freedom fighters everywhere; its constant refrain is that love\, joy\, hope\, and softness are not things we need to sacrifice to fight the good fight. Before the films begin\, visitors can explore community vendors\, food trucks and outdoor activities from 4 to 6 p.m. \n\n\n\nScheduled activities include skateboarding with RVA Skate\, skimboarding with Skim Milk\, an archery range operated by The Luck Group and paddling with RVA Paddlesports. \n\n\n\nCourtesy of Herico Recreation and Parks\n\n\n\nDorey Park is also home to one of Henrico County’s disc golf courses\, giving visitors another activity to try during the afternoon. Guests looking for a quieter break from the action can visit a sensory-safe space provided by Glamping RVA. \n\n\n\nFood will be available for purchase throughout the event. Organizers recommend picking up food during the transition between the afternoon activities and film screenings to avoid missing the program. \n\n\n\nCourtesy of Henrico Recreation and Parks\n\n\n\nMountainfilm originated in Telluride\, Colorado\, where its annual festival brings together filmmakers\, athletes\, environmentalists\, artists\, authors and others around documentary storytelling focused on adventure\, culture and the natural world.
