SUMMARY:Tony Rock
DESCRIPTION:Comedian\, Actor\, Producer Tony Rock is the hardest working man in show business. Born in the same Brooklyn Hospital where most of his eight brothers and sisters arrived into the world\, Tony was born laughing and it was quickly apparent that his big brother wasn’t going to be the only famous comedian in the family. Tony has proven to be one of television’s best hosts having played the role of ringleader on HBO’s weekly stand-up comedy series All Def Comedy\, NBA TV’s The Warm Up\, along with BET’s Black Card Revoked and Apollo Live\, all while co-starring in his first primetime network series – CBS’ Living Biblically. Performing stand-up comedy continues to be Tony’s first love and this year has proven no different.  You can see him on tour in 2018 as one of the featured acts on the Platinum Comedy Tour with Mike Epps\, The Festival Of Laughs with Comedienne Sommore\, and his own Tony Rock Live club tour!Outside of the lights-camera-action\, Tony works tirelessly as the founder of the MyROCK Diabetes Foundation\, a charity organization established in honor of his late father.

Saxophonist Everette Harp\, keyboardist Jeff Lorber\, and guitarist Paul Jackson Jr. seamlessly blend jazz\, funk\, and soul into a sound praised by JazzTimes as “a hefty\, and very tasty helping of jazz\, funk and soul\,” and by AllMusic as a “creatively vibrant unit with a shared vision.” Each member is a towering figure in Contemporary Jazz\, with decades of collaboration alongside legends like Quincy Jones\, Aretha Franklin\, B.B. King\, and countless others. Together\, they’ve sold millions of albums and generated more than 50 #1 Smooth Jazz radio hits. \nFormed in 2014\, JFS began with Harp\, Lorber\, and the late Chuck Loeb\, whose spirit and musicianship helped define the group’s early sound. Following Loeb’s passing in 2017\, the trio honored his legacy while moving forward with Paul Jackson Jr. completing the lineup. Their fourth album\, Forecast (2022)\, captures the band’s magnetic chemistry\, deep camaraderie\, and forward-thinking musical vision. Created largely during the pandemic\, the album reflects both reflection and momentum-rooted in jazz tradition while pushing confidently into the future. \nAt its core\, Forecast is about connection: between musicians\, generations\, and styles. From funk-driven grooves to soulful ballads and blues-infused explorations\, the album highlights each member’s virtuosity while emphasizing the collective voice. As Lorber notes\, the goal is simple and timely-to offer listeners an oasis of joy\, groove\, and positive energy. Jazz Funk Soul isn’t just a supergroup; it’s a living\, evolving conversation between three masters who continue to redefine what Contemporary Jazz can be. \n“Creatively Vibrant unit with a shared vision.” – AllMusic

In 2012 Return to Forever won a Grammy Award and Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album\, Forever. \n\n\n\nClarke’s creativity has been recognized and rewarded in every way imaginable. In 2022 Clarke was selected by the National Endowment for the Arts as one of its four new Jazz Master honorees. This is the highest honor that the United States bestows on jazz artists. He was Rolling Stone’s very first Jazzman of the Year and bassist winner of Playboy’s Music Award for ten straight years. Clarke was honored with Bass Player Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of Guitar Player Magazine’s “Gallery of Greats.” In 2011 he was honored with the highly prestigious Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival for his entire body of work. Clarke has won Downbeat Magazine’s Reader’s and Critics Poll for Best Electric Bass Player for many years. In September 2016 he became a part of the permanent collection displayed at the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington DC. \n\n\n\nIn 2023 It was announced that Clarke will partner with Santa Monica\, CA’s\, BroadStage as its Artist in Residence. This multi-year partnership includes performances\, curation\, and mentorship for Santa Monica College Music Department and Santa Monica High School Jazz students. The cornerstone of the residency is the launch in three years’ time of an intergenerational jazz festival in Santa Monica. \n\n\n\nUnable to tour most of 2020\, Clarke’s Pandemic work involved developing a web series\, Stanley Clarke’s Bass Nation. The project is about the dynamics of the music industry\, recording and performing\, and include Stanley’s conversations with noted musicians\, gear reviews\, play-throughs and performances. \n\n\n\nAn accomplished film and TV composer of well over 70 projects\, his credits include Boyz N The Hood\, the Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It\, Romeo Must Die\, The Transporter and Best Man Holiday. He has garnered three Emmy Nominations and a BMI Award for his scoring. In 2014 Clarke was invited to become a member of the exclusive Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. \n\n\n\nBorn in Philadelphia\, Clarke has been a constant force of nature in American music since the early 1970s with the success of the jazz-fusion group Return To Forever. That accomplishment gave way to a number of extremely successful solo albums for Clarke. Along the way\, he has collaborated with Quincy Jones\, Stan Getz\, Art Blakey\, Paul McCartney\, Jeff Beck\, Keith Richards\, Aretha Franklin\, Stevie Wonder\, Chaka Khan\, The Police\, Herbie Hancock and many more\, and has shared the stage with Bob Marley and Miles Davis. \n\n\n\nHe believes in giving back to help young musicians hone their skills. He and his wife Sofia established The Stanley Clarke Foundation eighteen years ago\, which offers scholarships to talented young musicians.
