Just a spontaneous jam session at Nashville’s Station Inn between a few friends. All women\, all seasoned players out to make a little noise on a weeknight. What happened next was alchemy: the room lit up\, the crowd roared and by the time the night was over\, something had shifted. The landscape of bluegrass\, and the women who played it\, would never be the same. That night became the origin story of Sister Sadie: a band born by accident\, kept alive by chemistry and fueled by an unshakable bond between women who had spent their lives not just learning the rules\, but defying them. Over the next decade\, Sister Sadie would become a powerhouse. A GRAMMY-nominated\, IBMA-sweeping\, Grand Ole Opry-starring force. But for all the stages they played and accolades they earned\, they were still often reduced to a single line: all-female bluegrass band. It was true\, yet reductive. Because Sister Sadie was never about labels. They were about the music. They are about the music. The stories. The fire. And the unrelenting drive to speak their truth through a tradition that hadn’t always made room for it. “We’ve never been interested in playing a role to fit someone else’s idea of what bluegrass should look like\,” says Deanie Richardson\, the band’s fiery fiddle player and a two-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year. “We’ve always played from the heart\, and from the gut.” Now\, with the release of All Will Be Well\, Sister Sadie isn’t just rewriting the rules. They’ve burned the whole damn playbook too. This is the sound of a band that’s grown\, hurt\, healed and evolved. A record born not from the need to prove something\, but from the desire to tell the truth\, and loudly. On All Will Be Well\, you can still hear the fingerprints of bluegrass all over the instrumentation. But what rises above is something bigger: a fearless fusion of country\, Americana\, gospel and pure emotional storytelling. “This album is us\, no filter\,” says Gena Britt\, founding member and banjo powerhouse. “We didn’t try to stay inside any lines. We just wrote and recorded what felt honest.” And what stories they are. On “Prodigal Daughter\,” written by Dani Flowers\, lead vocalist Jaelee Roberts\, the 2024 IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year\, delivers a performance so raw and haunted\, it feels like she’s lived every lyric. “Do What You Want” crackles with righteous defiance\, a declaration of self-worth wrapped in swagger and stomp.  “This Is Me (You’re Not Talking To)” turns heartbreak into a battle cry\, while “If I Don’t Have You” strips everything back to what really matters: love\, desire and the spaces in between. Then there’s “Orphan Train\,” a stunning reimagining that runs on rails of grief and hope. It’s a nod to the past that feels chillingly present. The title track\, “All Will Be Well\,” a Gabe Dixon tune that offers a quiet benediction to anyone who’s been through the fire and comes out singing. And “Let the Circle Be Broken” flips the old gospel standard on its head\, turning rupture into renewal. The band even makes room for a little romantic chaos on “Can’t Let Go of Your Love” — proof that heartbreak songs still slap hardest when they’re wrapped in banjo rolls and airtight harmonies. This is not a band flexing for the industry. This is six women telling you exactly who they are. And who they are is formidable. Gena Britt brings decades of road-tested banjo chops and a vocal tone that anchors the band’s harmony-rich sound. Deanie Richardson’s fiddle playing bridges ancient soul and modern electricity.  Jaelee Roberts commands attention with a voice that can cut glass or cradle it. Dani Flowers\, a gifted songwriter with cuts across country and Americana\, adds heart and heat through her lyrics and guitar work. Rainy Miatke brings sharp mandolin picking and a fresh creative spark that fits like a glove. And the newest addition\, Katie Blomarz-Kimball\, brings an extensive bass knowledge that has become the inimitable driving force behind Sister Sadie. “We’re not trying to be anybody else\,” says Dani Flowers. “This is the most ‘us’ we’ve ever sounded.” That feeling of arrival\, of authenticity\, pulses through every track on All Will Be Well. It’s a record built on scars and joy\, strength and surrender. The New York-born\, Montreal-raised singer-songwriter has released ten studio albums to date\, three DVDs\, and three live albums including the GRAMMY® nominated Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall. I switched it up for ‘Summer Rain’ and wrote the music first\, then the words. I wrote the lyrics with my mother and think it’s beautiful. It’s about a guy who sees a pretty lady in the rain and falls for her instantly. It’s important to remember those moments…especially when that person makes you angry! Reflect on that memory. You’ll be more humble and understanding.” Equally inspired\, but in a completely different light is Summer Rain’s other vocal piece\, “Thankful\,” a heartfelt offering of gratitude sent up to Jesus in song. “It’s important to give thanks to The Lord\,” she says. “‘Thankful’ came from my heart with lyrics that I truly feel deeply.” ***** Jeanette Harris was born and raised in California’s post-Gold Rush town of Fresno in the center of the San Joaquin Valley. Reared by her mother\, Annette\, and her church organist father\, Floyd Harris – both of deep spiritual faith and intense believers in the art of music – Jeanette and her older brother\, Michael\, received their love of God and family genetically. “When I was 5\, my father put a guitar in my hands\,” Jeanette begins. “A year later\, he switched me to piano with a private teacher. I didn’t like it. Reading treble and bass clefs was so overwhelming that I would cry\, but it gave me a great jumpstart. One day while driving me to 4th grade\, Mom was playing a cassette by Grover Washington\, Jr. I remember looking at the picture of his alto sax. It was beautiful and Grover made it look so hip. I felt it would be the perfect instrument for me.” Jeanette played saxophone and piano from grade school to high school where band teacher Steve Alcala also had her play in the Fresno City College jazz band even before she graduated high school. She won numerous awards and accolades\, which led to a scholarship to attend Berklee in Boston where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance. Back in Fresno\, Jeanette recorded her first self-released CD\, Here and There\, grabbing brother Michael to play drums with Patrick Olvera on bass\, and began building a following by regularly packing Mike’s Pub & Pizzeria. She recorded her official debut album Reflections followed by Smooth Holiday Greetings on her family’s J&M Records (Jeanette & Michael’s initials\, Mom and Dad’s funds). Citing her influences\, Jeanette continues\, “(Saxophonist) Richard Elliot brought some serious R&B groove at a time when smooth jazz really needed more of that funk vibe\, especially his song ‘Corner Pocket.’ I just loved his production! As a composer\, Stevie Wonder’s music touches the hearts of people with lyrics that have strong meanings\, and beautiful chords and melodies. And (guitarist) Norman Brown is the one that inspired me to want to be a performer when my parents took me to see him for my very first concert at The Bastille in Hanford\, CA. He gave me chills!” After crossing paths with Brown on the road\, Jeanette co-wrote a song with him that became the title track of her fourth CD\, Saxified. Brown recorded the song on his Grammy nominated CD\, 24/7\, with a different title\, “The Best is Yet to Come” featuring Gerald Albright. “To have Gerald playing a melody that I wrote is so amazing\,” Jeanette shares. Jeanette has played major events from The Coombs River Bend Ranch Festival to festivals in Japan and London.  She has performed as a side musician with Howard Hewett and Deniece Williams and has opened shows for greats ranging from smooth jazz stars Kirk Whalum\, Najee and The Rippingtons to R&B stars Babyface\, Phil Perry and KEM. “I got a standing ovation opening for KEM\,” Jeanette beams. “He came out to meet me and get my CD. His people said he never does that! That let me know my music does crossover.” The most special person to come along in the course of Ms. Harris’ career thus far was singer/songwriter Marie\, who hired her unheard/unseen in a destiny-streaked leap of faith totally befitting Jeanette’s life and beliefs. “Her trumpet player saw me at the 2010 NAMM Show and asked for my business card. It had already been an unbelievable day where I got endorsements for both Unison saxophones and BARI Reeds. As I was driving home\, the guy called me and asked if I wanted to play with Teena for a concert…in London! I couldn’t believe it. I got 4 hours sleep that night studying her music then drove to L.A. for the audition. I had to pull off the freeway when Teena called me personally to get my passport information. The band tested my improvising skills on a funk song and a ballad – then I was in! Teena finally arrived\, gave me a big hug and away we went. She featured me in her last concerts playing sax on ‘I’m a Sucker for Your Love’ and ‘Portuguese Love\,’ and flute on ‘Déjà vu.’ She was truly a blessing in my life. Teena taught me how to be a strong female leader. Over the course of eight solo albums\, many side projects\, and more guest appearances than most could do in one lifetime\, his powerful songs have given voice to the voiceless and shed light into dark and hidden corners of the American dream. Pierce’s newest record\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted\, captures moments in the lives of everyday people as they struggle with crisis and encapsulates everything that has been so powerful about his music to date. With original lyrics composed by lead Jonah\, the band fills in with lively\, fist pumping beats.  Formed at Lynchburg College nearly 25 years ago\, the Ex-Patriots still put on a high-energy performance unlike any other. Making the move to Richmond in 2002\, the band has built a reputation for sing-alongs\, dancing\, and audience participation. Consisting of traditional instruments like the tin whistle\, mandolin\, and violin\, the band brings an old Irish sound and an original blend of influences to their shows. And while the band long had a rotating cast of characters\, the current lineup has been performing regularly for the past eight years at venues like the Church Hill Irish Festival\, Northside Grill\, Poe’s Pub\, Mainline Brewery\, Gallery 5\, Final Gravity Brewing\, The Artemis in DC\, and many more.  The Ex-Patriots are firmly rooted in the style of the Pogues and will always perform a few Pogues songs. However\, they also step outside the box to perform original music inspired by punk\, American folk\, and old-time gospel. The WaybacksWebsite | Facebook  They draw freely from the old school and the old world\, but The Waybacks are no throwback. They are as uninhibited and unpredictable as the eclectic San Francisco Bay Area that claims them\, and for nearly 25 years their experiments have always proven sharp-witted and musically dazzling. They’re living proof that in music anyway\, evolution and intelligent design are entirely compatible.  The band has been praised by the Chicago Tribune for its “near-ideal balance of irreverence\, chops\, discipline\, and originality.” The folk and roots underpinnings that have long been a Waybacks hallmark are still there\, but after years of playing a huge range of venues and festivals\, The Waybacks contuine to evolve.  “The whole spirit of improvisation – that’s always been the cornerstone of this band for me\,” says singer\, songwriter and guitarist James Nash. “Through all the stylistic changes and regardless of the instruments we’re playing\, to me the fun of this band has always been that in some ways I can do whatever I feel like doing at any moment.” That improvisational spirit meets the band’s dazzling turn-on-a dime skills during their annual Hillside Album Hour performances at MerleFest\, which have been an ongoing highlight of the festival since 2008. A four-piece with a full arsenal of acoustic and electric instruments\, configured around the hot guitar of James Nash and the fiddle virtuosity of Warren Hood and driven by the rhythm section of bassist Joe Kyle Jr. and drummer Chuck Hamilton\, the band filters genre through its own sensibilities and ends up transcending it altogether\, conjuring up musical landscapes that defy boundaries and find common ground. Add in those spirited flights of improvisation and a healthy dose of jaw-dropping chops and what emerges in the end is decidedly Waybacks. Victory BoydWebsite | Facebook | Instagram “There is a rich legacy of music that originates from both the trials and triumphs of the African-American experience\, a legacy that flows like a river through generations and waters the world with songs of hope for the present times and for the future.” This is how Victory Boyd\, a 31-year-old soul and folk artist from Detroit Michigan\, describes not only the sound that she carries but also the responsibility of what she carries as an artist\, entrepreneur\, and advocate. Victory started her career at the age of 4yrs old and grew as a vocalist in the family choir. The family later migrated to New York City and presented free concerts in Central Park for 10 years. In 2016 British film producer and director Jeymes Samuel discovered Victory and sent a video of her singing in Central Park to Jay-Z. Jay-Z personally signed Victory and her family in 2016. In 2018 Victory released her debut album “The Broken Instrument” which went on to garner fans globally and caused her to gain recognition from hip-hop mogul Kanye West who later invited Victory to help him write his first Gospel Album entitled Jesus is King\, winning Victory her first Grammy as a songwriter. Victory opened The Secret Place Studios in 2020\, and released her sophomore album Glory Hour in 2023. She has toured in Europe in 2023\, 2024\, and 2025 of note performing at the Premier Gospel Awards in London\, England where she was nominated for International Artist of the Year in 2024. 2025 has marked a special new milestone as Victory released her first Christmas album\, “Christmas Hymns.” This labor of love—steeped in reverence and wrapped in the tender peace of His presence—was created to accompany both the warmth of family gatherings and the quiet\, sacred moments we share with God alone. 2026 is proving to be a year for the books. Victory steps into a new era as she releases her third studio album\, “Confessions of a Lonely Girl” on March 27th. It is already garnering national and international attention. The project marks Victory’s most emotionally transparent body of work to date\, capturing the quiet power of vulnerability\, faith\, and womanhood through a collection of deeply personal songs that unfold like private conversations with the soul. Arriving during Women’s History Month\, Confessions of a Lonely Girl draws from Victory’s lived experiences\, offering an unfiltered reflection on love\, spiritual resilience\, and the courage it takes to tell the truth even when it’s uncomfortable. She is looking forward to sharing this body of work with the world!
