Ian FlaniganWebsite | Facebook | Instagram  Blake Shelton has described him as a “once-in-a-lifetime vocalist\,” but on the eve of releasing his sophomore album\, The Man My Mama Raised\, Ian Flanigan views his gift a little differently. “My voice has always been an interesting thing. It’s been a bit of a blessing and a curse\,” he says with a smile. “It’s taken me years to figure out. You know the world is run by tenor vocals and being a baritone\, you’ve always got to get a little creative to have that same kind of vocal impact.” Despite his self-effacing demeanor\, Flanigan’s voice has had considerable impact. Drawing comparisons to Joe Cocker and Chris Stapleton with his warm\, raspy tone\, Flanigan was a third-place finalist on The Voice as a member of Team Blake. Usher praised him as a “top gun” and Gwen Stefani said\, “Nobody has a voice that sounds like that. It’s just so rare.” Shelton was so impressed with the veteran road warrior that he joined Flanigan on the single “Grow Up\,” featured on his 2022 debut album Strong. His new album\, The Man My Mama Raised\, showcases not only Flanigan’s gifts as a vocalist but also his songwriting prowess as he co-wrote nine of the 12 cuts. “I started working with a new producer for this record\, John Stone\, and when we first got together\, we decided to write the bulk of the record\,” he shares\, “but we also wanted to cut a couple of songs to really help set the direction\, so we picked two songs right off the bat. One was ‘Broken Heart’ and the other was ‘I Don’t Smoke.’ Those are the only two besides the cover of Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It” that I didn’t write or co-write.” The taut production combined with Flanigan’s smokey vocals and memorable songs meld to create an album that is rapidly expanding the singer/songwriter’s fan base. The project is the culmination of more than a decade of honing his skills through relentless touring\, all in pursuit of a dream that began during his childhood in the Catskill Mountains in a tiny town near Woodstock\, NY. “I was about 10 years old\, and I was pretty confident that I was going to be a musician\,” he says. “My mom and I used to write songs as a kid. They weren’t really great\, but we would just write songs all the time about anything. By the time I was 12\, my parents hooked me up with my guitar teacher and I’ve been really dedicated to it ever since.” That dedication reached a higher level in 2019 when he sold everything\, bought a Winnebago and hit the road. There’s no substitute for playing night after night to test a musician’s resolve and dedication to their craft. It’s also an excellent opportunity to learn how to truly entertain any type of crowd. “As an artist\, it allowed me to see the country on a ground level which was super inspiring\,” he says. “I never would have had that insight if I didn’t do that. I’m mostly grateful for the hardships that came with it because it taught me just so much when it comes to just following your path and believing in yourself.” That trial by fire helped Flanigan prove his mettle\, but it all came to a screeching halt when the pandemic hit. Like all musicians\, Flanigan found his career stalled by circumstances beyond his control. With just $90 in the bank\, his future was riding on an audition for The Voice. He took a shot\, succeeded and found a large and enthusiastic fan base. His Reviver Records debut album\, Strong\, delivered on the promise Flanigan displayed on The Voice. “Grow Up” reached No. 5 on the US iTunes sales chart. He toured with Chris Janson and Trace Adkins\, and has been featured on CMT\, RFD-TV\, Fox News\, American Songwriter\, Whiskey Riff\, The Music Universe\, Country Now\, Everything Nash\, Entertainment Tonight\, People Magazine\, USA Today\, Yahoo News\, and The Wrap. His new album looks sure to continue that momentum. “Our goal on this record was to create a new lane in country music\, something that was like totally my own\,” he says. “We wanted diversity and we were focused on great storytelling. Plus\, we were always keeping the live show in mind.” He credits his producer for helping him realize his vision. “We met at the Island Time Music Festival\,” he says of connecting with Stone at the Isla Mujeres\, Mexico event. “We really hit it off. We were hanging out the whole time and about eight months later I gave him a call and asked him if he wanted to produce a couple of songs on this next record. It ended up turning from three songs to the whole record. We’ve been creating music ever since.” Always evocative\, Flanigan sounds even more confident vocally on The Man My Mama Raised. “John definitely pushed the hell out of me on this record vocally and helped me learn the sections of my range and how to layer the stuff with the full band\,” he says. “I learned so much on my last record of what to do and what not to do vocally\, so it was a combination of all of that that kind of got us here today.” One of the standout tracks on the The Man My Mama Raised is Flanigan’s sensuous take on Tina Turner’s classic. “‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ is probably one of my favorite covers that I’ve ever done\,” Flanigan says. “It’s just a really fun song.” Flanigan also covers “I Don’t Smoke.” “This song was originally cut by Lee Brice and Warren Haynes\,” he smiles. “What I love about the song is that it’s this really celebratory fun jam of a song that is saying\, ‘I don’t smoke. I don’t drink. I don’t take no pills.’ I’ve been alcohol free for over nine years now\, so I’m always trying to write the next song that isn’t necessarily a drinking song.” “Gimme Cash” is an uptempo romp that pays homage to country music’s roots as Flanigan playfully sings\, “Just gimme Cash. You can keep the change.’” “I wrote that with John probably the week before we went to cut the rest of the record and we were like\, ‘We’ve got to cut this. It’s too fun\,’” he says. The album isn’t short on such light-hearted numbers\, but the songs that are sure to cement Flanigan’s reputation as one of the premiere singer/songwriters of his generation are the reflective “Words I Never Heard An Old Man Say” and the intensely personal “The Man My Mama Raised.” “We were thinking about what your Grandpa would tell you\,” he says of penning “Words I Never Heard An Old Man Say” with Stone. “Then it slowly morphed into all these sayings like\, ‘What if we turned it to where it’s not the advice that you get\, but it’s all the things that you’ve never heard an old man that you respect ever say and the advice is in there?’ and that’s kind of what spurred the insight for it.” The album’s title track was written after a heartbreaking loss. “This is probably the heaviest song on the record\,” he says of “The Man My Mama Raised\,” which he co-wrote with John Stone. “I lost my mother this past year in October. It’s really a tribute to her. You just hope that you can find a way to be half the man that your mama raised you to be. It’s the title track of the album because all these songs are the accumulation of who I am today and the artist I’ve become. I wouldn’t be any of that without her\, so it’s really just like an umbrella title for the whole record\, even though there’s every kind of emotion in this record. This is the most personal song.” Laying his heart bare with a poignant slice of life ballad or channeling his honky tonk energy into a roaring uptempo\, Flanigan serves up potent songs that reflect all facets of the human experience. And he does it all with an unmistakable\, achingly beautiful baritone that anchors each song in a way no one else can. “There’s relatability between all of us and the hardships and all the joys in life\,” Flanigan says. “I really want people to feel a connection after they listen to this album. “There’s a few songs that are just fun and are barn burners and then there’s some really\, really deep stuff that we all go through. I hope the listener just feels a sense of connection\, and I hope they have a good time.”

Gardener is the long-running synth-psych project from Dash Lewis. Using synthesizers\, samplers\, an array of effects pedals\, and his voice\, Lewis builds massive\, glacial walls of sound that take influence from The Beach Boys\, Harmonia\, Theo Parrish\, Cluster\, El-P\, and the Bomb Squad. Syncretist is a solo electronic project from Robert Salsbury\, co-curator of the Sunday Soundtracks concert series. Syncretist explores melody and texture using club idioms in a format that mixes song structure with a seamless dj style presentation\, coming from a strong 90s IDM sensibility. She studied classical music at Howard University\, where her early discipline and precision took shape. Over the years\, Althea built a reputation as one of the most dynamic and expressive flutists in contemporary jazz. Growing up in South Florida\, he started playing the saxophone at the age of 9. He continued to play all the way through high school where he became first chair in the All-State Jazz Band. ​Doc Martin received a scholarship to study music at the University of Central Florida under the leadership of Jeff Rupert and George Weremchuk and was quickly hired as a sideman by Sam Rivers and Sisaundra Lewis (2nd runner up finalist on The Voice Season 6). ​After graduation\, Doc Martin experienced the hardships that full time musicians often experience. He was short on money and was struggling to make a living. Based on a strong recommendation from his father\, he decided to pursue a career in dentistry (His father and brother are dentists). ​Doc Martin got accepted into the prestigious dental program at Howard University and became a Board-Certified Dentist in 2008. Vernon\, NY native has recorded on six of the seven inhabitable continents\, and while Antarctica is not on his recording bucket list\, his short international list\, including Dubai\, Brazil\, South Africa\, Spain\, UK\, Canada\, is quite impressive. “Whether it’s a massive festival crowd of 30\,000 or an intimate restaurant audience of less than 60\, I refuse to rob my audience of great music\, top-notch effort and a good personal experience”\, says Baldwin.  He’s been coined by industry peers as the “Ray Charles of Contemporary Jazz”\, having owned all but seven of his 34 solo recordings. He claims that ownership has helped to sustain him throughout the current pandemic era. His Radio program\, NewUrbanJazz\, established in 2008\, celebrated its’ 700th consecutive weekly radio program on February 28\, 2022. The pianist’s personal goal is to release a 12-song project per year\, and since 1988\, he has released over 34 projects\, of which 27 are owned by his company\, City Sketches Records (distributed by The Orchard/Sony Music). Discs #35 and 36 are in the works. Bob’s current live disc\, “The Stay at Home Series” marks an industry adjustment. Recorded in 2020-2021\, this is a closed live recording in the studio with some of his New York musical compadres. With Cafe Da Silva and Chembo Corniel on percussion\, and his longtime music friends Tony Lewis and Dave Anderson on drums and bass\, the new project will spit out a Volume 2 in the near future.  “Being a musician\, we obviously had to make adjustments to the way we all do music\,” says the Native New Yorker. “Concerts were eliminated in 2020\, but fortunately\, owning your own music makes you halfway covid-proof\, and live streaming was the new normal”. His current 2021 release\, “The UrbanSmooth Suite” was a vocal extravaganza with various vocalists Monica Mason\, Regina Troupe\, Toni Redd and others as well as Earth\, Wind and Fire original Ralph Johnson on drum on the uptempo “Dance 3000”. His 2020 piece\, “Henna” explored a more natural sound with the aforementioned Da’ Silva from Brazil\, Anderson and Lewis\, but his 12-solo piece with Nils\, Beasley\, Alford\, Whiteside and company on “Club Life” was the record highlight as well as the late Rohn Lawrence on Guitar. His ‘theme’ projects of Stevie Wonder (MelloWonder/Songs in the Key of Stevie)\, Thom Bell (Betcha By Golly Wow)\, and Michael Jackson (Never Can Say Goodbye) have all charted mightily on the Billboard Jazz charts\, all hitting in the top 15. His very latest\, Abbey Road and the Beatles has also crept into the top 20 on the charts as well. Never Can Say Goodbye and Never out of Season were both remixed and remastered in the spirit of hi-def (2018). Whereas older recordings would peak at the average 16-bit maximum\, Bob is trying to push the envelope in re-tracking some of the music in 24-bit (and sometimes 32-bit mode). The Brazilian-American Soundtrack (2016) was a disc recorded in Brazil with a magical journey through Rio\, Ipanema Beach\, Atlanta and New York City and showcases original music\, plus music from legendary writers and artists like Djavan\, Ivan Lins and Antonio Carlos Jobim. What’s next? Well…funny you should ask. Bob Baldwin is re-writing and updating his book\, “You Better Ask Somebody”\, and will go in a little deeper on subjects like music streaming and the lowdown on Croton Jazz.

The trio’s debut album Wobegon (2018\, Fresh Sound New Talent) introduced their intimate\, song forward approach\, followed by (after) (Adhyâropa Records\, 2024)\, which refined that language through unhurried themes and immersive ensemble sound. Their newest release\, Spark (Adhyâropa Records\, 2026)\, expands the trio’s palette with greater dynamic range\, blues and folk influenced melodic language\, and subtle sonic coloration. The trio has toured extensively throughout the United States\, including an elevencity tour in August 2025.

Barry White Barry Eugene Carter\, better known by his stage name Barry White\, was an American singer and songwriter. A two-time Grammy Award winner known for his bass voice and romantic image\, his greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra\, crafting many enduring soul\, funk\, and disco songs such as his two biggest hits: “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love\, Babe” and “You’re the First\, the Last\, My Everything”. SUMMARY:Stanley Clarke
DESCRIPTION:Four-time Grammy Award Winner Stanley Clarke has attained “living legend” status during his over 50-year career as a bass virtuoso. He is the first bassist in history who doubles on acoustic and electric bass with equal ferocity and the first jazz-fusion bassist ever to headline tours\, selling out shows worldwide. A veteran of over 40 albums\, he won the 2011 Best Contemporary Jazz Album Grammy Award for The Stanley Clarke Band. Clarke co-founded the seminal fusion group Return to Forever with Chick Corea and Lenny White. In 2012 Return to Forever won a Grammy Award and Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album\, Forever. Clarke’s creativity has been recognized and rewarded in every way imaginable. In 2022 Clarke was selected by the National Endowment for the Arts as one of its four new Jazz Master honorees. This is the highest honor that the United States bestows on jazz artists. He was Rolling Stone’s very first Jazzman of the Year and bassist winner of Playboy’s Music Award for ten straight years. Clarke was honored with Bass Player Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of Guitar Player Magazine’s “Gallery of Greats.” In 2011 he was honored with the highly prestigious Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival for his entire body of work. Clarke has won Downbeat Magazine’s Reader’s and Critics Poll for Best Electric Bass Player for many years. In September 2016 he became a part of the permanent collection displayed at the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington DC. In 2023 It was announced that Clarke will partner with Santa Monica\, CA’s\, BroadStage as its Artist in Residence. This multi-year partnership includes performances\, curation\, and mentorship for Santa Monica College Music Department and Santa Monica High School Jazz students. The cornerstone of the residency is the launch in three years’ time of an intergenerational jazz festival in Santa Monica. Unable to tour most of 2020\, Clarke’s Pandemic work involved developing a web series\, Stanley Clarke’s Bass Nation. The project is about the dynamics of the music industry\, recording and performing\, and include Stanley’s conversations with noted musicians\, gear reviews\, play-throughs and performances. An accomplished film and TV composer of well over 70 projects\, his credits include Boyz N The Hood\, the Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It\, Romeo Must Die\, The Transporter and Best Man Holiday. He has garnered three Emmy Nominations and a BMI Award for his scoring. In 2014 Clarke was invited to become a member of the exclusive Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Born in Philadelphia\, Clarke has been a constant force of nature in American music since the early 1970s with the success of the jazz-fusion group Return To Forever. That accomplishment gave way to a number of extremely successful solo albums for Clarke. Along the way\, he has collaborated with Quincy Jones\, Stan Getz\, Art Blakey\, Paul McCartney\, Jeff Beck\, Keith Richards\, Aretha Franklin\, Stevie Wonder\, Chaka Khan\, The Police\, Herbie Hancock and many more\, and has shared the stage with Bob Marley and Miles Davis. He believes in giving back to help young musicians hone their skills. He and his wife Sofia established The Stanley Clarke Foundation eighteen years ago\, which offers scholarships to talented young musicians.

DESCRIPTION:A Juneteenth Weekend celebration & concert of original blues\, gospel\, jazz and American roots songs from the Broadway-bound musical "Truth".TRUTH is an original musical theater project inspired by the true life story and spiritual mission of SOJOURNER TRUTH\, a woman once-enslaved in New York’s Hudson Valley\, who grew up to take her own freedom\, free her son\, and become a pioneering champion of emancipation and women’s rights in America.The original songs convey the wide range of feelings\, struggles\, triumphs\, joys\, and revelations of Sojourner’s incredible journey. Sojourner herself is both the musical’s Storyteller and central figure in the Story within a Story\, as she takes us back in time along on her unique soul’s journey through an incredible\, sometimes harrowing\, oft times inspiring\, moving and impactful life.SONGS of TRUTH is a selection of heart and eye opening songs from the full musical. “SONGS OF TRUTH: The Awakening” is the second in a series of Richmond concert presentations\, following two sold out concerts in November 2025 at Reveler in Carytown. It will have additional visual elements and dance elements\, as well as a stage full of legendary and up-and-coming Richmond talent. Richmond’s own Desirée Roots will headline once again as Sojourner Truth\, with a cast including  Carla Jackson\, Dale Heiskill\, Stacie Brawn\, Keni B Fine\, Jana Nichole Prentis and Te-Loriah Whitfield The Band will be led by Weldon Hill\, with Mike Hawkins\, James “Saxmo” Gates and other stellar Richmond musicians. SONGS of TRUTH will be directed by Tanya Birl-Torres\, a New York City-based\, Director choreographer and theater artist\, currently Artist in Residence at New York’s The Shed. SONGS of TRUTH is presented by Craig Martin\, Keni B Fine and Shockoe Records.
