What once focused on visual art and an artist of the month has evolved into a musical celebration that honors the performing arts and the literary arts\, since someone had to compose and write each song. Sojourner herself is both the musical’s Storyteller and central figure in the Story within a Story\, as she takes us back in time along on her unique soul’s journey through an incredible\, sometimes harrowing\, oft times inspiring\, moving and impactful life.SONGS of TRUTH is a selection of heart and eye opening songs from the full musical. “SONGS OF TRUTH: The Awakening” is the second in a series of Richmond concert presentations\, following two sold out concerts in November 2025 at Reveler in Carytown. It will have additional visual elements and dance elements\, as well as a stage full of legendary and up-and-coming Richmond talent. Richmond’s own Desirée Roots will headline once again as Sojourner Truth\, with a cast including  Carla Jackson\, Dale Heiskill\, Stacie Brawn\, Keni B Fine\, Jana Nichole Prentis and Te-Loriah Whitfield The Band will be led by Weldon Hill\, with Mike Hawkins\, James “Saxmo” Gates and other stellar Richmond musicians. DESCRIPTION:Four-time Grammy Award Winner Stanley Clarke has attained “living legend” status during his over 50-year career as a bass virtuoso. He is the first bassist in history who doubles on acoustic and electric bass with equal ferocity and the first jazz-fusion bassist ever to headline tours\, selling out shows worldwide. A veteran of over 40 albums\, he won the 2011 Best Contemporary Jazz Album Grammy Award for The Stanley Clarke Band. Clarke co-founded the seminal fusion group Return to Forever with Chick Corea and Lenny White. In 2012 Return to Forever won a Grammy Award and Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album\, Forever. Clarke’s creativity has been recognized and rewarded in every way imaginable. In 2022 Clarke was selected by the National Endowment for the Arts as one of its four new Jazz Master honorees. This is the highest honor that the United States bestows on jazz artists. He was Rolling Stone’s very first Jazzman of the Year and bassist winner of Playboy’s Music Award for ten straight years. Clarke was honored with Bass Player Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of Guitar Player Magazine’s “Gallery of Greats.” In 2011 he was honored with the highly prestigious Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival for his entire body of work. Clarke has won Downbeat Magazine’s Reader’s and Critics Poll for Best Electric Bass Player for many years. In September 2016 he became a part of the permanent collection displayed at the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington DC. In 2023 It was announced that Clarke will partner with Santa Monica\, CA’s\, BroadStage as its Artist in Residence. This multi-year partnership includes performances\, curation\, and mentorship for Santa Monica College Music Department and Santa Monica High School Jazz students. The cornerstone of the residency is the launch in three years’ time of an intergenerational jazz festival in Santa Monica. Unable to tour most of 2020\, Clarke’s Pandemic work involved developing a web series\, Stanley Clarke’s Bass Nation. The project is about the dynamics of the music industry\, recording and performing\, and include Stanley’s conversations with noted musicians\, gear reviews\, play-throughs and performances. An accomplished film and TV composer of well over 70 projects\, his credits include Boyz N The Hood\, the Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It\, Romeo Must Die\, The Transporter and Best Man Holiday. He has garnered three Emmy Nominations and a BMI Award for his scoring. In 2014 Clarke was invited to become a member of the exclusive Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Born in Philadelphia\, Clarke has been a constant force of nature in American music since the early 1970s with the success of the jazz-fusion group Return To Forever. That accomplishment gave way to a number of extremely successful solo albums for Clarke. Along the way\, he has collaborated with Quincy Jones\, Stan Getz\, Art Blakey\, Paul McCartney\, Jeff Beck\, Keith Richards\, Aretha Franklin\, Stevie Wonder\, Chaka Khan\, The Police\, Herbie Hancock and many more\, and has shared the stage with Bob Marley and Miles Davis. He believes in giving back to help young musicians hone their skills. He and his wife Sofia established The Stanley Clarke Foundation eighteen years ago\, which offers scholarships to talented young musicians.

No script.  Just crazy energy as the audience request their favorite songs while two piano duelers battle it out on stage.   Blazin’ Keys Dueling Pianos based out of Raleigh North Carolina brings the fun and excitement for the first time to Richmond VA at the Tin Pan RVA live music venue.

Barry White Barry Eugene Carter\, better known by his stage name Barry White\, was an American singer and songwriter. A two-time Grammy Award winner known for his bass voice and romantic image\, his greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra\, crafting many enduring soul\, funk\, and disco songs such as his two biggest hits: “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love\, Babe” and “You’re the First\, the Last\, My Everything”. Gerald Levert was an American singer-songwriter and producer. Levert was best known for singing with his brother\, Sean Levert\, and friend Marc Gordon of the R&B vocal group\, LeVert. Levert was also a of the R&B group Black Men United and a member of LSG\, a supergroup comprising Keith Sweat\, Johnny Gill\, and himself. Levert was the son of Eddie Levert and lead singer of the R&B/soul vocal group the O’Jays. He released nine solo albums\, six as a member of LeVert\, two with his father\, and two as a member of LSG. Levert was also part of the R&B group Black Men United. Keith Sweat is an American singer and songwriter. An early figure in the new jack swing musical movement\, he is known for his collection of hits including “I Want Her”\, “Make It Last Forever”\, “I’ll Give All My Love to You”\, “Make You Sweat”\, “Get Up on It”\, “Twisted” and “Nobody”. He has released 13 solo albums (2 as a part of the R&B supergroup LSG) and discovered the groups Silk and Kut Klose. Marc Evans (Barry White)Website | Facebook Marc A. Evans\, a native Baltimorean\, was born into music. As a student at Morgan State University\, under the tutelage of Dr. Nathan Carter\, Evans began nurturing a love for music. His smooth voice meshed with passionate delivery sets Evans apart from the rest as one of the most talented vocalists of the millennium. Balancing his talents in both areas\, Evans lyrical presentation in song and spoken word is miles beyond one-dimensional artists. David Lawson (Gerald Levert & Keith Sweat)Facebook David Lawson is a superb vocalist born in New Jersey and currently residing in Maryland.  He works as a lead vocalist for his church and for multiple music groups.  He has toured Japan along with several other countries over the years.  His distinct first tenor voice allows him to excellently perform music of all genres\, and he is a fan favorite of anyone who has ever heard his voice.

DESCRIPTION:Modern chamber jazz with Americana color and open improvisationThe Aaron Irwin Trio brings together saxophonist\, clarinetist\, and composer Aaron Irwin with guitarist Mike Baggetta and drummer Bill Campbell. The group’s sound prioritizes melody\, space\, and texture\, blending chamber-like intimacy with Americana rooted language and modern improvisation. Irwin’s writing favors clear song shapes and open forms that invite genuine interaction between musicians and listener. The trio’s debut album Wobegon (2018\, Fresh Sound New Talent) introduced their intimate\, song forward approach\, followed by (after) (Adhyâropa Records\, 2024)\, which refined that language through unhurried themes and immersive ensemble sound. Their newest release\, Spark (Adhyâropa Records\, 2026)\, expands the trio’s palette with greater dynamic range\, blues and folk influenced melodic language\, and subtle sonic coloration. The trio has toured extensively throughout the United States\, including an elevencity tour in August 2025.

She made her debut at the Apollo Theater at age four and had a contract with RCA Records when she was only five. Quincy Jones and Dinah Washington have proclaimed themselves as her godparents. By the late 1960s Austin was a prolific session musician and commercial jingle singer. During the 1980s\, signed to Jones’s Qwest Records\, she began her most prolific hitmaking period. She charted twenty R&B songs between 1969 and 1991 and had success on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart\, where she hit number one in 1981 with “Do You Love Me?” / “The Genie”. The album containing that hit\, Every Home Should Have One\, also produced her biggest mainstream hit. “Baby\, Come To Me\,” a duet with James Ingram\, initially peaked at number 73 on the Hot 100 in early 1982. After being featured as the love theme in a prominent storyline on the soap opera General Hospital\, the song re-entered the pop chart in October and went to number one in February 1983. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA. She would later team up again with Ingram for “How Do You Keep The Music Playing”.
