Nashville Hitmakers featuring Carrie Brockwell, Victoria Shaw and Gary Burr
October 9 @ 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
The Richmond Symphony brings Nashville songwriting to RVA with Nashville Hitmakers, featuring Virginia-born country artist Carrie Brockwell alongside Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame members Victoria Shaw and Gary Burr.

The concert pairs live orchestral performances with the stories behind songs written and recorded across country and pop music. Shaw’s catalog includes hits such as “The River,” recorded by Garth Brooks, “I Love the Way You Love Me,” recorded by John Michael Montgomery, and “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely,” recorded by Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera. Burr’s songwriting credits include “I Try to Think About Elvis,” recorded by Patty Loveless, “Can’t Be Really Gone,” recorded by Tim McGraw, and “To Be Loved By You,” recorded by Wynonna.
Brockwell returns to RVA during a milestone week for the Virginia native. Her appearance follows the Oct. 2 release of her new version of “Sweet Virginia Breeze,” written by Steve Bassett and Robbin Thompson. Brockwell worked with Bassett while developing her interpretation of the Virginia classic.
With the Richmond Symphony behind them, Brockwell, Shaw and Burr will perform selections from their catalogs while giving audiences a look at the songwriting and stories behind the music.
