Chesterfield County Police are increasing their presence at Chesterfield Towne Center this weekend following reports of a potential “teen takeover” circulating on social media.
According to a flyer shared online, the gathering is rumored to take place Saturday, March 21, in the mall’s parking lot. Police officials say they are aware of the posts and are coordinating with mall management as a precaution.
In a public statement, Chesterfield Police Chief Frank Carpenter said the department is taking the situation seriously and will have an increased presence in and around the shopping center to help maintain a safe environment.
Officials emphasized that while the event itself has not been confirmed, any disruptive or illegal behavior will be addressed. The department is also encouraging parents to stay aware of their children’s plans and online activity, noting that situations organized through social media can escalate quickly.
The increased police presence is intended to support both public safety and local businesses operating in the area during the busy weekend period.
Anyone who observes suspicious activity is encouraged to contact Chesterfield Police through the non-emergency line at 804-748-1251.
Authorities say they will continue monitoring the situation as the weekend approaches.
